[Instructions and Information]
-iSeismometer stores data based on the frequency setting. the more the frequency, the sampling rate is increased per second
-If you suspend recording, you can drag the screen to re-track the previous data.
-X-Y-Z illustrated
- Lots of options... See the screenshots!

-"While I can see this has real possible applications, the only semi-serious use Ive had is showing my 95 year old grandmother her washing machine was out of balance. (fixed it) The look on her face was PRICELESS. Thanks!" - by KeyboardError

We were covered in "The Independent Guide To The iPhone 3Gs" By Nik Rawlinson. Here is his review

"This is a novelty app but one that also helps you learn something new. The concept is simple. You just leave tour iPhone on hard surface with the app fired up then tap somewhere nearby and watch what happens.

It looks like something you’d find in a hospital, but it’s one of those things that is very captivating once you’ve looked at it once. In fact, we completely lost track of time when we played with this app as we tried out different tap-based compositions – MTV had nothing on us during this review.

You’ve got the ability to pause the ‘recording’ of movement around the iPhone, in addition to looking at colorful spectrum graph of what occurred in the three seconds prior to requesting that data.

We didn’t quite understand what the chart was showing us. But it looked pretty nonetheless and it’ll make you look über intelligent to anyone looking over your shoulder .

The app will monitor movement for 10 seconds and report back on the last three seconds of activity. You can then upload that data in snazzy graph format to the web for all to see. Old friends will probably think you’ve changed career."

Pros and cons of iSeismometer app for iPhone and iPad

iSeismometer app good for

Works great, but please add colour coding (because they can overlap), sensitivity (managed to pick up movement when everything was still), and a scroll bar. That would make the app amazing.
Its simple but so cool to see what the iPod is able to sense. I put it on the table and I see if someone is walking in the same room! The only downside is to not be able to see anything if the iPod is under too much move.
Not patricularly usefull but a good one too add to my collection of nerdy apps
This is much better than any of the paid seismometer apps. Separation of components and ability to scroll back and see your table-top seismic event are very cool. Good help with clear illustration.
My friend has this app but it is way faster in the older version(my friend hasnt updated it yet) and this new version is slower, i still recomend it but try to fix the speed problem PLZ to get 5 stars =3
If I lay it on my chest it will even record my heartbeat! Proves that I am indeed alive! Great App!

Some bad moments

What youre basically watching on the screen is your gyroscope working which is interesting. Left it alone for a couple of hours to see if it could pickup the subway and it burned through a 90% battery charge on my 5S.
As of 2016 with IOS 9.3.4, the settings for wifi data, etc, no longer work. Attempting to edit any text box shows only a grey box, no keyboard. Enabling the transmit data switch now locks up the app. Was cool back in 2011, but needs some updates to comply with current apple dev standards and function properly.
I had this app for my iPod 3G. And it worked great. It was fast without hesitation. Now I just redownloaded it to my iPod 4g and now its slow and sluggish. Like its buggy or something. Yes, I restarted my iPod.
I used this on my iPhone 4. Loved it. Now it Locks up in IOS 8 and my iPhone 6. Too bad the app is no longer updated
This is a nice app but what it really needs is the ability to utilize the iPhone accelerometer to detect earthquakes and automatically share that data to the cloud and/or the USGS. Only when enough similar readings are detected from a certain region within a narrow timeframe would the data be considered legitimate and then be pushed back out to the map for all users to view. The app could also be active only at certain times of the day/night that the user defines. As well as only be active when connected to pre-defined wifi networks. Such as Home or work. Another option would be to only take accelerometer reading when it is plugged into power (such as when on your night stand or connected to a computer USB). The app could also use the iPhone GPS to disable sensor reading when moving. As well as only record seismic data when the app detects the iPhone is laying flat on its back. Another option would be to disable the seismic sensor data output when a face is detected with the front facing camera. Requiring the app to be running in the foreground would also further prevent false readings. This could easily, quickly, and cheaply create a huge network of seismographs around the world. Needs to be able to run in background (Multitasking). Needs to record magnetometer data as well.
Since the developers site it down, Ill post here. I have been using this app since my 3GS and its been flawless. I have iOS 8 running on my 4S and the new 6. Still works great on the 4S but the buttons lock up every time on anything running iOS8. No keyboard control at all. Reloaded it twice with the same result. So if the developer has left this app behind, I guess I will too. There are several apps as good and better than this. Too bad..
